Athletes daily face the risk of injury whether acute of through breakdown, fatigue or overuse. Proper nutrition can help to alleviate or minimize atrophy as well as promote healing of the body’s physiology. Preseason screening nutrients are important to function and may need to be considered as well. Nutrition is a key to sports performance and it’s growth in the industry and sports is phenomenal. Participants will learn to differentiate between needs and wants. To develop proper mindsets which promote health and wellness as well as improved energy resources. With multiple schedules, travel and options available you will learn which are actually available and consider alternatives. Course Description: Recovery in sports is essential to physiological restoration of the body. In this course you will discover new strategies to accelerate the recovery process. You will learn procedures to promote rapid healing and their advantage. Participants will develop strategies to incorporate in their clients as well and in their own active lifestyle.
1. Name Three daily nutritional behaviors that can be reviews to minimize risk of fatigue related injury
2. Describe at least one nutrition intervention to address that may minimize atrophy following injury.
3. Describe at least two other nutrients that may need to be considered when screening different types of athletes prior to a season.
4. Identify key reasons for athletes not to choose nutritious meals and snacks.
5. Describe the mental connection to foods and how to integrate athletes physical “needs” with mental “wants”
6. Consider alternative options for home, dorm, travel, and practice meal/snack options that meet nutritional needs and athletic taste buds.
7. Define physiological changes resulting from high intensity and prolonged activities which require addressing to accelerate the recovery process.
8. Show the many types of procedures to promote rapid healing and the advantage of each of these procedures.
9. Motivate the attendees to not encourage their athletes to be active with their recovery but for the attendees to utilize their own recovery tools themselves.
Taking This Course
This course consists of 3 off site lessons and a final exam as part of a Friday, April 20th 3.0 EBP JSMP LiveStream event.
For the final exam, participants can take a maximum of 5 attempts to achieve a passing score of 80% or higher. Participants who achieve a passing score can print out a JSMP BOC EBP certificate of completion. Participants who do not pass the final exam after 5 attempts will need to re-pay for and repeat the entire course to attempt to earn credit.

Students will first have to register as a student by filling out and submitting a completed Innovative CEUs, LLC (ICEU)
After completing the ICEU Student Registration page, they will then be on their ICEU student home page and be able to search for this course by searching provider Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program (JSMP) and then adding the JSMPEBP LiveStream course to their shopping cart by students ICEU Home Page, can be added to their cart by clicking the Add to Cart button. Once this course in in the shopping cart the student will use the 100% off coupon for this livestream course to purchase this course and check out of the shopping cart.
The student will be provided a Key Code to use at the completion of the 3.0 Hour JSMP LiveStream event to log onto their ICEU student portal to access this course Final Exam.
Completion of Course Final Exam. Then the course will be posted to the Completed Courses page.
Students need to complete end End of Course Survey on the Completed Course Page.
End of Course Survey will need to be completed by all students who successfully complete this JSMP EBP livestream course final exam for them to generate their JSMP BOC EBP Certificates. (Certificates are always available for completed courses on Completed Course Page).
