1) Explore the role of laser therapy in Athletic Training, from rehabilitation to prevention and performance.
2) Learn the mechanisms of action behind laser powered athletic performance and the role of NO, ATP and O2
3) Review the latest peer reviewed research on athletic performance enhancement with laser, including papers by Leal and Antonialli
4) Implement and explore various methods and techniques of low level laser treatments for sports performance enhancement and accelerated recovery
5) Discuss optimal “dose” as it relates to successful clinical outcomes
6) Explore Clinical Practice Guidelines for sports performance enhancement
Taking This Course
This course consists of 3 SESSIONS and a final exam.
This 1.5 hour course explores the scientific and clinical applications as of Low Level Laser/Light it relates to athletic performance and recovery. ONLY Evidence based research is presented to support the use of this modality. Additionally, practical and clinically relevant treatment techniques and protocols for improving strength, enhancing endurance and accelerating recovery will be presented and demonstrated to allow Athletic Trainers to be confident and capable of safely and effectively incorporating laser/light into their training room.
The lesson consists of a video and or other lesson materials. For the final exam, participants can take a maximum of 2 attempts to achieve a passing score of 75% or higher. Participants who achieve a passing score can print out a MULTI RADIANCE MEDICAL EBP BOC certificate of completion. Participants who do not pass the final exam after 2 attempts will need to re-pay for and repeat the entire course to attempt to earn credit.
When registering for this course, select any state. Age level does not apply, so just select any. Governing Body must be MULTI RADIANCE MEDICAL, Specialty must be EBP, and Student Role must be Athletic Trainer.

Students will first have to register as a student by filling out and submitting a completed Innovative CEUs, LLC (ICEU) student registration page .
On ICEU student registration page student needs to click on credentials (top tool bar on right) to add Credentials. To qualify for all of the MULTI RADIANCE MEDICAL EBP BOC courses: Student Credentials must be listed as indicated below:

About the Instructor
Douglas Johnson, ATC, EES, CLS
Senior Vice President, Clinical and Scientific Affairs, Multi Radiance Medical
Mr. Johnson is a certified athletic trainer with over 20 years of clinical/industrial experience. He attended Wayne State University and The University of Detroit-Mercy where he earned a Summa Cum Laude Bachelors of Science degree in Sports Medicine in 1994.
He is the Senior Vice President, Clinical and Scientific Affairs at Multi Radiance Medical and is involved in numerous research studies involving super pulsed laser. Recently he was named as a clinical advisor to Laser Therapy U, invited to speak at the Annual 2014 NATA Symposium and Euroscience 2015 London, England about Laser Therapy. He served as a member of the NAALT/WALT Scientific Education Committee for the 2014 Program and currently serving as a member of the NAALT Board of Directors.
He studied the effect of super-pulsed laser and light emitting diodes phototherapy on non-specific knee pain which was published in Lasers in Medical Science, May 2014 and part of a study to determine the thermal impact on combined pulsed wavelengths on human skin, June, 2015. Currently, he is a reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training and an advisor for EuroSciCon Organizational Committee for the 2017 London Conference.
Currently his area of research involves the precondition of athletes with photobiomodulation to improve athletic performance, accelerate recovery and reduce fatigue and injuries.
