Teen Sports Nutrition Course is a Secondary (Middle and High School) Sports Nutrition Course for all Middle School and High School Coaches, Administrators, Parents, and Athletes. The Teen Sports Nutrition Course contains the following information (Fueling Before Exercise, Fueling During and After Exercise and Weight) in regards to a wide range of sports nutrition topics that apply to coaching any Middle School or High School Sports Athlete:
1. Teach teen athletes why, what, and when to eat before, during and after exercise
2. Explain why a carbohydrate-based sports diet is best for fueling muscles
3. Identify the best situations to use sports drinks
4. Teach how to choose a balanced sports diet
5. Offer suggestions for pre-game breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and half-time/ recovery snacks
6. Help parents on traveling teams organize team food for games and tournaments
7. Explain the importance of teaching sports nutrition to young athletes
8. Offer five tips on how to gain weight healthfully
9. Help teens overcome body image issues.
Taking This Course
This course consists of 3 lessons and a final exam. Each lesson consists of a video and/or other lesson materials and a stage exam. Stage exams must be passed prior to continuing to the next lesson or taking the course Final exam. Stage exams must be retaken as many times as required in order to pass with an 80%.
Students only have 2 attempts to pass the course final exam. After passing the final exam (with a score of 80% of higher) the student will be able to print out a certificate of completion. If a student fails to pass the final in 2 attempts, you will be required to re-pay for the course and go through the complete course again.
Secondary courses are designed for people working with children from 13-19 years old. To qualify for this, course make sure your age levels are either 13-15 years old or 14 to 19 years old and your Governing Body has to be either Middle School or High School.
Student Registration and ICEU Course Instructions
Students will first have to register as a student by filling out and submitting a completed Innovative CEUs, LLC (ICEU) student registration page .
On ICEU students Home Page student needs to click on credentials top took bar on right to add Credentials. To qualify for all of the ICEU High School Coaching Courses: Student Credentials must be listed as indicated below:
Age Level: Either 13-15 years old or 14-19 years old
Governing Body: Must be either Middle School or High School
Student Role: Any
After setting their student credentials all available ICEU High School Coaching Courses will be displayed on the students Home Page (Click on the Home Button).
Any of the ICEU High School Coaching Courses seen on students ICEU Home Page, can be added to their cart by clicking the Add to Cart button.
After selecting all ICEU High School Coaching Courses courses students want to purchase, they can check out of shopping cart and put in a COUPON Code if they have one prior to check out.
Course Completion Information:
A. 90 days to start course
B. Once course started, 5 days to complete course
After purchasing a course it will show on the Courses Not Started Page. (Top Navigation button - Courses Not Started).
To start any of these ICEU Coaching courses, just click on the Click to Start link next to the course you want to start. Once a course has been started it will be moved to the Courses in Process.
On the Courses in Process ICEU Students Page, the students will start and complete the lesson (view lesson video) and then complete the Lesson Stage Exam.
Completion of Course Final Exam. Then the course will be posted to the Completed Courses page.
Students need to complete end End of Course Survey on the Completed Course Page.
End of Course Survey will need to be completed by all students who successfully complete each ICEU High School Coaching Courses course final exam for them to generate their ICEU High School Coaching Certificates. (Certificates are always available for completed courses on Completed Course Page).

About the Instructor
Nancy Clark, MS, RD, CSSD
Nancy Clark MS RD, a board certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD), is an internationally respected sports nutritionist. Her private practice is in Newton, MA; she counsels both competitive athletes and casual exercisers. Clark specializes in nutrition for exercise, wellness, weight management, and the resolution of eating disorders. Her clients have included the spectrum from Olympians and members of the Boston Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics to "ordinary mortals," fitness exercisers, student athletes, and weekend warriors. Nancy's nutrition advice and photo have even been the back of the Wheaties' box!
Nancy completed her undergraduate degree in nutrition from Simmons College in Boston, her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and her graduate degree in nutrition with a focus on exercise physiology from Boston University. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American College of Sports Medicine.
